In the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Naval Forces, it was reported that Russian occupiers have turned Crimea into a large military base, where airfields play a special role.
This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, speaking on the air of the FREEДОМ TV channel.
He commented on the strikes on Russian military objects on the occupied peninsula.
"In fact, they have turned Crimea into a large military base, and airfields play a serious role in this, especially now. The latest information update showed that there are five active airfields, three of them are actively used. Monitoring publications periodically show that even a civilian airport is sometimes used for unloading cargo planes," noted the spokesperson.
Pletenchuk emphasized that now, when there are no Russian ships at sea, the occupiers have to compensate for this with aviation.
"Therefore, these objects are actively used by the Russians," he added.
