Ukrainian Forces Strike Key Russian Military Sites in Volgograd and Tambov Regions.
Strikes Conducted on February 12
According to TSN.ua: On the night of February 12, Ukrainian defense forces launched a missile strike against a key arsenal belonging to Russia's Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate (GRAU). The target, located near the settlement of Kotluban in the Volgograd region, was hit with FP-5 'Flamingo' missiles, resulting in powerful explosions confirmed at the site.
In a coordinated operation, Ukrainian troops also targeted the 'Progress' plant in Michurinsk, situated in the Tambov region. The attack caused a significant fire at the facility, indicating serious damage to the industrial site.
Further strikes hit ammunition depots in the Terpinnya and Rozivka districts of the Zaporizhzhia region. These actions are part of a broader Ukrainian campaign targeting Russian military logistics and industry deep inside Russian territory. The previous day, on February 11, a similar strike damaged the primary oil refining unit (ELOU-AVT-1) at the 'Volgogradsky' oil refinery.
Ukraine's Strategic Aims
These events highlight the active and expanding operations of Ukrainian forces against military and industrial assets in Russian-controlled areas. By concentrating attacks on critical military depots and supporting industrial enterprises, Ukraine is pursuing a clear strategy to degrade the resources and logistics Russia uses to wage war. This approach aims to disrupt Russian military supply chains and increase pressure on the Kremlin's command structure, marking a significant phase in the ongoing conflict.
