A cafe with occupiers was hit in the Kherson region: what is known about the consequences.
According to ТСН: On the night of December 31 to January 1, a series of explosions occurred in the occupied village of Khorly in the Skadovsk district of the Kherson region. According to the invaders, this was allegedly a strike by Ukrainian drones.
The Russian side claims that the attack was aimed at a cafe and hotel, and the Gauleiter of the occupied part of Kherson, Volodymyr Saldo, reported 24 dead and 50 injured.
“Due to the powerful fire, more people could not be saved. The fire was extinguished only by morning. Now doctors are fighting for the lives of the injured. Many were burned alive. A child died,”
— claims the collaborator.
Occupiers' and their families' celebrations
Some Telegram channels report that Russian military personnel may have been in Khorly. One of the authors of the public 'Region 22' notes:
“All the ‘elite’ of the district gathered there along with Russian officers,”
— he says.
OSINT analyst InformNapalm Anton Pavlushko points out that the first line of Russian air defense is located in Khorly, and the presence of military personnel is commonplace.
The public 'Crimean Wind' also reports that Russian military personnel, their families, and local collaborators celebrated the New Year at the cafe.
“A peaceful lieutenant colonel in underwear has been eliminated in occupied Khorly of the Kherson region. Recall, propaganda screams about 'the murder of civilians' in the cafe and hotel. At the same time, our source previously reported that Russian military personnel, their families, and local collaborators celebrated the New Year at the cafe,”
— states the message.
Simultaneously, Russian Z-publics began to appear with obituaries for the deceased occupiers and collaborators in Khorly.
Ukraine's position
Spokesperson for the General Staff of Ukraine Dmytro Lyakhovyi noted in a comment that the Ukrainian Defense Forces adhere to the norms of International Humanitarian Law.
“They strike exclusively at military targets of Russia, objects of the fuel and energy complex of the Russian Federation, and other legitimate targets,”
— he said.
Lyakhovyi emphasized that all information about the strikes carried out by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the night of January 1 has been published on the official pages of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on social media.
“In contrast, Russian propagandists and the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation have repeatedly resorted to disinformation and fake statements, including in order to influence Ukraine's international partners and the progress of peace negotiations,”
— he added.
It was also previously reported that on December 31, the Security Service of Ukraine attacked a fuel depot of the Russian reserve in the Yaroslavl region.
This incident raises once again the issue of safety for residents of occupied territories, where ordinary people find themselves at the epicenter of military actions. Answers to questions about the real causes and consequences of the explosions in Khorly remain uncertain, while the information war continues.
