Strike on the bridge near Mayaki: traffic restrictions imposed at the border with Moldova.
According to ТСН: After the attack on December 18 on the bridge near the village of Mayaki, located close to the border with Moldova in the Odesa region, temporary traffic restrictions have been introduced.
Which checkpoints are operating with restrictions
Due to the damage to infrastructure, the crossing procedures at two checkpoints have been temporarily revised:
“Mayaki-Udobne - Palanka” - crossing is allowed only for exiting Ukraine to Moldova for all types of vehicles.
“Starokozache - Tudora” - exit from Ukraine to Moldova is allowed for all types of vehicles, entry from Moldova into Ukraine is only allowed for transport heading to Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
From the Moldovan side, reports have surfaced about significant congestion at the checkpoint “Mohyliv-Podilskyi - Otach” and they have called for redirection of passenger and freight traffic to other routes.
Among the recommended alternative checkpoints:
“Mamaliga - Kryva” (Chernivtsi region),
“Sokyryany - Oknitsa” (Chernivtsi region),
“Bronnytsia - Unhri” (Vinnytsia region).
A temporary mobile camp has been established at the checkpoint “Mayaki-Udobne - Palanka”, where travelers can receive food and hot drinks.
Ukrainians are advised to avoid travel through the checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border in the Odesa region and, if possible, to use routes through Chernivtsi and Vinnytsia regions.
In case of emergency abroad or threats to the life and health of Ukrainians, it is advised to contact the nearest diplomatic establishments of Ukraine or the 24-hour hotline of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It should be noted that on December 18 in the area of the village of Mayaki, the Russian army attacked a car that was heading toward the bridge in the area of the Dniester estuary. There were a mother and three children in the car. The woman died in the ambulance.
The course of action after the attack on the bridge indicates the desperate measures being taken to ensure the safety of citizens. During travels across the border, Ukrainians should be particularly cautious, pay attention to the recommendations of the relevant services, and, if possible, choose alternative routes. These measures may impact the plans of many people, so it is important to keep track of updates.Read also
