Nighttime Strike on Zaporizhzhia

According to UATV: Around midnight, Russian forces launched an aerial attack on residential areas of Zaporizhzhia, dropping several guided bombs. One of the munitions struck the balcony of a nine-story apartment building, injuring three people, including a child. The explosion partially destroyed the building's facade from the first to the fifth floor.

The attack did not spare a single structure: more than 40 residential buildings across five districts of Zaporizhzhia were damaged. Witnesses described harrowing moments.

Yuriy, a local resident, recounted: 'The bomb came from over there, hitting the second floor on that side, a long balcony. It targeted a three-room apartment. It was deliberate. I had just turned off the TV and lay down. It was so hot—I was completely undressed—and I got covered in glass. The window frame fell on top of me.'

Another witness, Anna, recalled her frantic reaction at the moment of the blast: 'I heard my mother screaming. When I woke up, I realized debris had fallen on me. I quickly gathered myself and ran outside.' She added, 'The walls are still there. But the balcony is gone, the windows are gone. Nothing is left. Everything was destroyed by the explosion.' This tragedy underscores the severe danger faced by Zaporizhzhia residents amid ongoing hostilities.

Aftermath of the Attack

The assault on Zaporizhzhia's residential neighborhoods starkly illustrates the war's toll on civilians, who face constant threats from military operations. The damage to housing infrastructure and the injuries to residents highlight the escalating risks to people's safety in regions under bombardment. This situation demands urgent international action to protect civilians and provide humanitarian aid to the victims.
