Attacks on Occupied Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea: June 7

According to Novyny.live: Unmanned aerial vehicles launched overnight strikes on temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine on June 7. The targets included a thermal power plant and railway infrastructure in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, as well as an oil storage facility in Crimea. The Zuyivska Thermal Power Plant in Donetsk Oblast sustained a direct hit, sparking a fire at the facility.

Following the attack, electricity was cut off in the settlements of Makiivka, Khartsyzk, Yenakiieve, Debaltseve, and Kirovske. Drones also struck railway infrastructure near the city of Chystiakove, causing damage. In Luhansk Oblast, explosions were reported on railway lines, with substations catching fire.

Explosions were also heard in the Crimean cities of Feodosia, Sevastopol, Dzhankoi, and Simferopol. These incidents come amid a broader wave of recent strikes that have hit a strategic oil terminal in St. Petersburg, a military plant in the Tambov region, the port of Kronstadt, and an airfield in Crimea—all attributed to Ukrainian forces.

Escalation of Military Activity

These events signal a sharp uptick in combat operations across the region, which remains under temporary occupation. Shelling near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant on June 4 further highlights the deteriorating security situation in Ukraine.

The drone attacks on occupied territories underscore the ongoing conflict and Ukraine's efforts to disrupt enemy military infrastructure. Explosions in Crimea and elsewhere emphasize the strategic importance of controlling key assets that can shape the broader battlefield. This intensification of hostilities carries potential consequences for the future trajectory of the war in the region.
