Zelenskyy Confirms Russian Strike Delayed 'Flamingo' Missile Production.
Attack on 'Flamingo' Missile Facility
According to TSN.ua: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that a Russian strike targeted a Ukrainian factory producing 'Flamingo' missiles, causing a significant delay in their large-scale production. Despite this setback, manufacturing of the missiles has since resumed. The 'Flamingo' is a Ukrainian-developed weapon system that has become a key asset in striking targets deep within Russian territory.
Zelenskyy noted that these 'Flamingo' missiles have already been used to destroy several ammunition depots and a weapons manufacturing plant inside the Russian Federation.
“A Ukrainian plant producing 'Flamingo' missiles was hit. There was a production delay. Then production resumed, and a certain number of missiles were built.” — Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Monitoring Russia's 'Oreshnik' Missile Program
Separately, Ukrainian military intelligence has been tasked with monitoring the production of Russia's 'Oreshnik' missiles. Zelenskyy emphasized that 'the Russians are hiding the 'Oreshnik'. We understand why. Currently, they have three of these systems on the territory of the Russian Federation.'
This incident underscores the critical importance of the 'Flamingo' production line for Ukraine's armed forces, given the weapon's proven effectiveness against high-value enemy targets. The resumption of production also demonstrates Ukraine's resilience and ability to adapt to wartime challenges. The parallel focus on tracking Russia's 'Oreshnik' development highlights Ukraine's proactive strategic posture in monitoring emerging threats, a vital component of the nation's overall defense strategy.
