Satellite Imagery Reveals Extent of Damage After SBU Drone Strike on Tamanneftegaz Terminal.
SBU Drone Attack Targets Tamanneftegaz Oil Terminal
According to TSN.ua: An attack by Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) drones on the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in Russia's Black Sea region has caused severe damage to the facility. Satellite imagery from February 20 shows that three fuel storage tanks were hit in the assault. One tank was destroyed, another was burned out, and a third sustained significant damage. This facility is a key node in Russia's energy export infrastructure on the Black Sea.
Second Strike in a Month and Its Consequences
This incident marks the second strike on the terminal within the past month. A previous attack occurred on January 22, with damages estimated at approximately $50 million. The Tamanneftegaz terminal's storage capacity exceeds one million cubic meters, underscoring its substantial strategic importance to the region's energy logistics.
These events highlight the ongoing conflict's impact on critical energy infrastructure in the Black Sea area, with potential long-term consequences for both nations. Strikes on such facilities can disrupt fuel supplies and regional energy stability, which may contribute to further escalation and military actions in the future.
