Strikes on Russian oil refineries

On the night of August 30, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out drone attacks on the 'Krasnodar' and 'Syzran' oil refineries in Russia. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Important data about the oil refineries

The 'Krasnodar' refinery produces up to three million tons of gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel annually, which is used by the Russian military.

The 'Syzran' refinery has been hit for the second time this month.

'Units of the UAV Forces of Ukraine have again struck the 'Syzran' oil refinery in the Samara region of Russia. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil, and bitumen. Processing volumes were 8.5 million tons per year until August 2025. A fire has been reported in the vicinity of the facility', the General Staff reported.

Results of the attacks

In August 2025, Russian oil refining faced record losses. According to Reuters, this was influenced by Ukrainian strikes and scheduled maintenance.

According to analysts, the total capacities for primary oil refining in Russia amount to 6.5 million tons. However, drone strikes have led to downtime of 3 million tons, which is almost half of the total production. Russia's main oil terminal, the 'Ust-Luga' port, will operate at only half of its usual capacity in September due to damage to pipeline infrastructure from the attacks.

Stunning incidents

Recall that on the night of August 28, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck several important facilities of the Russian aggressor, including the Afipsky and Kuybyshev oil refineries.

Thus, strikes on oil refineries in Russia continue to negatively impact the country's energy sector. The number of attacks indicates the increasing effectiveness of Ukrainian forces in destroying the military infrastructure of the enemy, which may affect the overall course of the conflict.
