Hungary is trying to exclude eight individuals from the European Union's sanctions list against Russia. This is reported by Reuters, citing European diplomats.

Hungary is also demanding new guarantees regarding talks about gas transit through Ukraine before agreeing to the continuation of the restrictions.

However, the diplomats did not name the individuals Hungary wishes to exclude from the sanctions list.

As stated by Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on February 24, Budapest 'will not rush' to extend sanctions against certain individuals.

EU sanctions against Russia, which were implemented due to Russia's war against Ukraine, must be updated every six months through a unanimous vote.

The sanctions against Russia include two aspects that operate at different times. One of them involves economic measures, while the other is a list of over 2400 individuals and entities whose travel is banned and assets are frozen.

It was previously reported how Moscow uses Trump's peace initiatives to its advantage.
