Statement from Ukraine’s Top Diplomat

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has signaled Kyiv’s readiness to engage in dialogue with Poland on historical matters, while making it clear that any unfriendly actions will not go unanswered. His remarks come in the wake of a recent decision by Polish President Karol Nawrocki to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle.

Sybiha stressed that no foreign leader has the right to dictate Ukraine’s history.

“Full stop. This is over... The time when Ukraine overlooked hostile steps and manipulations of our history is gone,”
he emphasized. The minister also noted that the revocation of the award goes beyond a personal slight against the president—it reflects a broader disrespect toward Ukrainian soldiers, the nation, and its historical narrative.
“We will not tolerate this,”
Sybiha declared.

Polish Customs Dispute Adds Tension

For two months, Polish customs authorities have been blocking vehicles operated by Ukrposhta, Ukraine’s postal service, further straining bilateral relations. The situation has been compounded by former Polish Sejm deputy Piotr Fogler returning the 'Golden Cross of Merit' to the Polish president, signaling internal divisions within Polish society over how to approach ties with Ukraine.

Sybiha reiterated that historical disputes should be resolved by historians, not politicians. He called for constructive dialogue between Kyiv and Warsaw, underscoring the importance of maintaining good neighborly relations despite differing interpretations of the past. Ukraine remains open to negotiations but draws a firm line against any hostile behavior from Poland.

This statement from Ukraine’s top diplomat reflects growing concern in Kyiv over the trajectory of relations with Warsaw, amid historical controversies and diplomatic friction. At the same time, the call for dialogue shows Ukraine’s desire to preserve constructive ties with Poland, even as disagreements persist. Maintaining positive bilateral relations is crucial for both nations, especially in the context of regional security and economic collaboration.
