Ukraine Prepares Fresh Prisoner Swaps: Over 7,000 Citizens Already Back Home.
Prisoner Exchanges Between Ukraine and Russia
According to Novyny.live: Andriy Yusov, a spokesperson for the Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, has announced that new prisoner exchange operations are being readied. According to him, more than seven thousand individuals have already been brought back to Ukraine. These efforts are ongoing, with additional missions planned in the near future to secure the return of more Ukrainians.
On June 5, Ukraine carried out a prisoner swap that saw 185 military personnel and one civilian return home. The youngest among those freed was 26 years old, while the oldest was 62.
“Over seven thousand Ukrainians are already home. And more will definitely follow. In the coming days, there will be new operations and implementations to bring our people back,” Yusov stated.
The continuation of prisoner exchanges between Ukraine and Russia marks a critical humanitarian phase in the conflict, as it not only facilitates the return of soldiers but also of civilians caught in the war. This process underscores the Ukrainian government's commitment to protecting its citizens' rights and reuniting them with their families. Given the war's prolonged nature, these swaps could play a key role in advancing peace and stability in the region.
