Zelenskyy Announces Details of Upcoming Ukraine Talks with US and Russia.
Talks with the US and Russia
According to UATV: Ukraine is preparing for a new round of three-way negotiations involving the United States and Russia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the preparations, which included discussions with National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov. These diplomatic efforts come as the war enters its 1459th day on February 21, 2023, marking another grim milestone since Russia's full-scale invasion began.
Ukraine's Diplomatic Push
President Zelenskyy stressed the critical importance of Ukraine's actions on the world stage, stating:
“Ukraine will certainly do everything necessary for this and will definitely not be an obstacle to peace.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
This underscores the nation's determination to achieve peace and regional stability. The President also announced that “My meetings with European partners are already scheduled for next week,” highlighting the country's proactive diplomatic agenda. This sustained engagement is vital for maintaining international support against ongoing aggression.
Regarding security measures, Zelenskyy reported successes in countering Russian threats:
“We managed to neutralize Russian mercenaries who were preparing assassinations of our citizens.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
He emphasized that this is “another front of the constant protection of Ukraine's security, the protection of Ukrainians.” A key component of this strategy is the implementation of new sanctions, as the president noted: “And we will consistently implement sanctions and make them global.”
Furthermore, 225 ship captains now face new Ukrainian sanctions for transporting Russian oil, as part of broader efforts to economically pressure the Kremlin. Through these combined actions—diplomacy, security, and sanctions—Ukraine continues to work on strengthening its security and international relations while seeking pathways to resolve the conflict with Russia.
These developments highlight Ukraine's active role internationally and its drive to ensure regional security and stability. President Zelenskyy's push for diplomatic negotiations reflects a strategic approach to the conflict, alongside the crucial cooperation with European partners. The enhancement of sanctions and the fight against direct threats demonstrate Ukraine's readiness to act decisively in the face of prolonged aggression.
