Ukraine proposes taxes on Russian energy carriers for the reconstruction of the country after the war
The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, proposed to introduce special tax levies on Russian energy carriers and raw materials after the end of the war. This proposal is aimed at financing the reconstruction of Ukraine, which has suffered significant destruction due to Russian aggression.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the aggressor's funds should be used for the benefit of Ukraine. 'We insist on the complete confiscation of Russian immobilized assets. I proposed to partner countries to introduce special taxes on Russian energy carriers and Russian raw materials after the war,' he noted.
According to Shmyhal, this initiative will help compensate for the damage caused, provide Ukraine with resources for restoration, and create an international precedent that will protect future potential victims of aggression.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to international partners for their assistance in the recovery of the country and called on all states, communities, and private businesses to join the process of rebuilding Ukraine.
The main priority of the reconstruction is housing, which has been affected by hostilities. The second priority is energy infrastructure, the losses of which have increased by 93%. The third priority is the restoration of critical infrastructure.
