Ukraine should encourage businesses to purchase green energy – ExPro.
Low demand for guarantees of origin of green electricity in Ukraine
Market analysts from ExPro Consulting reported low interest among businesses in guarantees of origin for green electricity. The main reason for this situation is the lack of incentives for purchases. In Ukraine, guarantees of origin for electricity do not provide additional advantages for consumers.
Low demand is also related to the fact that Ukraine is still at the initial stage of implementing the guarantee mechanism, while the world is already considering more advanced systems for purchasing green electricity.
To develop the market for guarantees of origin of electricity in Ukraine, additional incentives for businesses, expansion of regulatory requirements, and integration into international guarantee mechanisms are necessary, believes analyst Daria Orlova.
The State Enterprise 'Guaranteed Buyer' proposes to amend legislation to reduce the tax obligation volumes for enterprises that purchase green electricity and confirm it with guarantees of origin, in order to increase demand for guarantees of origin of electricity.
