Ukraine had success in Kursk region, while the occupiers are constantly storming in Donbas – ISW report.
Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region achieved success and advanced near Korenevo. This is reported by analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
AFU operation in Kursky
Recently, Ukrainian troops made gains southeast of Korenevo within the main Ukrainian salient in the Kursk region, amidst ongoing Russian attacks in this area on October 24. Geolocational footage published the same day indicates that Ukrainian forces have advanced along the Snagost River north of Darino and are likely holding positions in the settlements of Darino and Nikolaevo-Darino (both southeast of Korenevo).
One of the Russian milbloggers claimed that Russian troops had advanced in the area between Sheptukovka and Khitrovka (both east of Korenevo) and made gains west of Tolstoy Log towards the Green Path (southeast of Korenevo). However, ISW was unable to verify this information. Other Russian milbloggers claim that Russian troops control the western part of Novoivanovka (southeast of Korenevo), while Ukrainian units operate on the eastern outskirts of this settlement.
On October 24, a Ukrainian brigade operating in the Kursk direction reported that Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region had destroyed a Russian air defense drone 'Strela-10'.
Kharkiv region
Russian troops continued offensive actions in the north of the Kharkiv region but did not achieve confirmed successes. They continued ground attacks northeast of Kharkiv, near Vovchansk, Starytsia (southwest of Vovchansk), and Tykhyi (east of Vovchansk) on October 23 and 24. On October 24, Russian milbloggers reported that Ukrainian forces launched an attack near Khatishche (northwest of Vovchansk).
A representative of a Ukrainian brigade operating in the Kharkiv direction noted on October 24 that Russian troops had built strong fortifications, including 'multilayer pits' dug into the ground. He also noted that Russian troops had not conducted mechanized assaults in the area for a long Time, likely preparing for the winter period, which could change the battlefield dynamics. The representative also stated that the lack of foliage would make actions on the battlefield more visible, complicating territory defense.
It is reported that units of the 116th Separate Special Purpose Brigade of the Rosguard operate in the Khatishche area, and parts of the 7th Motor Rifle Regiment of the Russian 11th Army Corps of the Leningrad Military District continue to operate near Lyptsi (north of Kharkiv).
Luhansk region
Russian troops recently advanced northwest of Kreminna during continued offensive operations along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line on October 24. Geolocational images published on the same day show a Russian flag in the center of Novosadove (northwest of Kreminna), indicating that Russian forces captured this settlement and the adjacent fields to its east. On October 22, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the capture of Novosadove, and later Russian milbloggers noted that units of the 144th Motor Rifle Division (20th Combined Arms Army of the Moscow Military District) took part in the operation. One milblogger claimed that the capture of Novosadove would allow Russian forces to launch new offensive actions on the left bank of the Zherebets River and push Ukrainian forces from Nevske (northwest of Kreminna).
Russian milbloggers also claimed that Russian troops strengthened their positions in Kruglyakovka (southeast of Kupyansk) and advanced further east from Novosadove, west of Kyslivka (southeast of Kupyansk), and south of Makiivka (northwest of Kreminna). However, ISW has not obtained visual confirmations of these claims.
Russian forces continued to attack positions north of Kupyansk in the area of Holubivka, southeast of Kupyansk near Pishchane, Kruglyakovka, Stepanova Novoselivka, and Lozova, and also east of Svatove near Vyshneve. They are also active northwest of Kreminna near Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Druzelubivka, Katerynivka, Tverdokhlibove, west of Kreminna near Terny, Torske, Zarychne, and southwest of Kreminna in the area of Serebrianka.
On October 24, the Russian Ministry of Defense released a video showing Russian attacks on bridges over the Oskil River west of Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi.
