Assessing Ukraine's Prospects for Missile Acquisition

According to Espreso.tv: Aviation expert Kostiantyn Kryvolap has analyzed Ukraine's potential to secure ballistic and anti-ballistic missiles before the close of 2023, driven by a development from the company Fire Point. The firm has announced its capability to produce such missiles, notably the FP-7.X, which has already undergone testing. This missile boasts a range of at least 200 km, potentially extending to 300 km, and carries a warhead weighing 150 kg.

How Emerging Technologies Could Strengthen Defense

Kryvolap further noted that in January 2023, Russian forces struck Kyiv using a 40N6 missile from the S-400 system.

“I remind you that in January 2023, the Russians hit Kyiv with an S-400 missile from this system—the 40N6 missile,” the expert emphasized.
He added that all other components of the surface-to-air missile system are already present in Europe, which could facilitate the successful integration of new technologies.

Kryvolap expressed confidence that, barring any interference, Europe could receive its first missiles and systems by the end of this year.

“If no one interferes, then by the end of this year Europe could receive the first missiles and the first systems,” he stated.
Ukraine's initiative to establish a European anti-ballistic shield, known as Project Freya, could also serve as a pivotal step in bolstering regional defense capabilities.

The development of ballistic and anti-ballistic missiles in Ukraine, particularly the FP-7.X, has the potential to significantly shift the regional power balance, especially given threats from Russia. Project Freya, aimed at creating a European anti-ballistic shield, underscores the growing defense collaboration among European nations, which could enhance their security in the face of emerging challenges.
