Former Minnesota state Sen. Justin Eichorn released on bail in prostitution sting case

Former Minnesota state Sen. Justin Eichorn released on bail in prostitution sting case

On Wednesday, it was decided to release former Minnesota Senator Justin Eichorn during a preliminary hearing. He is accused of attempting to entice and lure a 17-year-old minor into prostitution.

According to reports, the 40-year-old Eichorn arranged to meet the 17-year-old girl for sex on March 17.

He was allowed to leave jail on the condition of posting bail and residing in a halfway house as soon as a spot becomes available, with GPS monitoring.

Fox News Digital previously reported that Eichorn had been communicating illegally with someone reported to be a minor for about a week before arranging the meeting on March 17 for the purpose of engaging in sex.
When he showed up at the meeting, it turned out that the person he had been talking to online was actually an undercover agent, FOX 9 Minneapolis reports.

The ex-senator was arrested and initially allowed to be released during a bail hearing, but prosecutors insisted on new detention hearings over the weekend, saying he asked his wife to move a laptop from his apartment before investigators could arrive, FOX 9 reports.

Court documents indicate that FBI agents who arrived at the apartment before the wife told her she could not take the laptop, to which Eichorn's lawyers argued that he needed it for their real estate business.

A factory-reset mobile phone and a handgun, which Eichorn allegedly denied having while communicating with a probation officer, were also found in the apartment, reports FOX 9.

Eichorn's lawyers stated that he took the gun with him in case someone made threats he received due to a recent legislative initiative that defined Trump Derangement Syndrome, or TDS, as a mental illness in Minnesota, according to this report.

Eichorn resigned on March 19 before Republican lawmakers expelled him from his seat in the state senate.

According to reports, the woman filed for divorce from Eichorn this week.

Fox News Digital journalists were unable to reach Justin Eichorn for comment.
