Comments from the Defense Minister’s Advisor

According to Espreso.tv: Serhiy Beskrestnov, an advisor to Ukraine’s defense minister, addressed concerns about how missile launch information is received. He explained that a missile can travel to Kyiv in as little as 2 to 4 minutes, leaving very little time to respond to such threats. Beskrestnov also pointed out that monitoring systems can experience failures, which may delay the activation of air raid warnings.

'Any system failure will cause a delay in receiving information. No system is perfect, so errors happen, and the warning signal may come too late.' — Serhiy Beskrestnov

He further noted that alerts may be issued even when no actual launch has occurred. 'This happens because satellites detect activity at launch sites that precedes a missile launch, but for some reason, the launch itself may not happen,' Beskrestnov added.

Challenges in Receiving Launch Information

The situation surrounding the receipt of missile launch data remains difficult and calls for constant improvements to surveillance systems. Given the current security environment in the region, the effectiveness of these systems and the ability to respond to missile threats are critical for protecting civilians. Any delays in receiving information could have serious consequences, making the advancement of monitoring technologies and timely threat responses top priorities for defense agencies.

This also highlights the need for ongoing monitoring and analysis of information systems to reduce risks to the public.
