According to UATV: On July 14, 2023, Ukrainian service members took part in France’s Bastille Day military parade. The event, held on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, was attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska. Troops from 35 countries participated, including 20 soldiers from the Honor Guard Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
International Support for Ukraine
As part of the parade, two pilots from the Ukrainian Air Force flew Mirage 2000B fighter jets, a powerful symbol of global solidarity with Ukraine. Commenting on the participation of Ukrainian defenders, President Zelenskyy said:
“It is a great honor for us to be here. The fact that Emmanuel invited our defenders is a mark of respect and recognition of the strength of Ukraine, our people, and our Armed Forces. We thank our warriors. We thank France and all the partners who stand with Ukraine.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
A day earlier, on July 13, 2023, a meeting of the 'coalition of the willing' took place in Paris, involving representatives from over 25 nations. During this session, Ukraine and nine European countries formed an 'anti-ballistic missile coalition,' highlighting the growing international backing for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
This participation marks a pivotal moment, underscoring the unity and cooperation between Ukraine and its global partners.
The presence of Ukrainian troops in the parade not only acknowledges their critical role in defending their homeland but also reinforces the increasing international support for Ukraine—essential amid the current military situation. The gathering of representatives from various countries at the 'coalition of the willing' meeting demonstrates the international community’s commitment to joining forces in support of Ukraine and addressing new security challenges in Europe.
