Germany has delivered two more Patriot systems to Ukraine: how they will strengthen air defense.
According to ТСН: Two more Patriot air defense systems have begun to protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure. This became possible thanks to recent agreements with the German government.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this on its website.
Patriot is a surface-to-air missile system produced by the USA, which is one of the most modern air defense systems in the world. Its main purpose is to destroy aircraft as well as cruise and ballistic missiles. The Patriot system allows the destruction of high-speed and complex targets, providing multi-layered protection for strategic facilities and large cities.
Main advantages of Patriot
Versatility. The system is capable of destroying various aerodynamic and ballistic targets, including hypersonic missiles such as 'Zircon' and 'Kinzhal', which reach speeds of up to 11000 and 16000 km/h respectively.
High efficiency. The highly accurate Patriot radar uses technologies that allow it to simultaneously detect and track multiple targets. The missiles of the Patriot system, particularly the PAC-3 MSE version, are characterized by high precision and are capable of hitting targets with direct guidance, which is crucial for protection against ballistic missiles.
Multitasking. One Patriot battery can simultaneously detect up to 100 targets and track up to eight of them.
Automation. The ability to operate in automatic mode allows Patriot to respond quickly to threats, which is critical for intercepting hypersonic missiles.
Range and altitude. Patriot engages aerial targets at altitudes of up to 24 km and distances of up to 160 km, providing coverage over large areas.
Now the Patriot air defense systems protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure, reducing the number of casualties from enemy attacks with cruise and ballistic missiles on energy and civilian facilities.
On December 17, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov reported on the signing of a number of new important agreements with German partners worth over 1.2 billion euros. Initially, thanks to the agreements between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, Germany committed to allocate 11.5 billion euros to support Ukraine next year.
Let us recall that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the accession of Romania and Croatia to the international PURL initiative (Procurement of United States Resources for Ukraine).
For the first time, countries outside NATO will join the PURL program for arms procurement for Ukraine.
This news indicates the continued international support for Ukraine, which is important amid ongoing threats. Deliveries of modern equipment, such as Patriot systems, significantly enhance the country's defense capabilities and help protect civilian objects from attacks.
