Ukraine complained to the UN about Russia due to satellite channel hacking.
The International Telecommunication Union, a specialized UN agency in the field of global telecommunications, is considering a number of complaints from Ukraine and European countries about Russian satellite interference in the operation of navigation services and television channels. This was reported by Reuters.
It is noted that satellite interference jams GPS signals and can jeopardize air traffic control, according to a statement from the European Union, which was sent to the International Telecommunication Union earlier this month. In some cases, children's TV channels were attacked: as a result of the interference, violent scenes of the war in Ukraine were broadcast on them.
In Ukraine's complaint to the UN body, dated June 3, at least 11 cases of interference have been documented, which over the past three months have affected dozens of Ukrainian TV programs. The statement requests "to take all possible measures to stop Russia's interference".
France, Sweden, and Luxembourg also sent complaints with accusations of "malicious interference" in their satellite networks, confirmed the International Telecommunication Union, without specifying who is responsible.
Recall that on March 28, the Russians organized a large-scale attack on Ukrainian TV channels. Kremlin propagandists appeared on the air. This was reported by the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security Spravdi.
According to the center, attempts were recorded to jam the broadcasts of 1+1 media channels, which broadcast 1+1 Ukraine, 1+1 Marathon, Tet, "Pluplus", "Bigudi", 2+2, "Unian", and others.
By the way, European satellite companies suffered from attempts to interfere with the broadcast from Russia. Propaganda, which was broadcast in Russian, was aired on children's channels.
