How Tomahawk Missiles Could Reshape the War in Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Aviation expert Valeriy Romanenko has outlined Ukraine's urgent need for advanced missiles from its allies to effectively destroy enemy targets. He stated that Tomahawk cruise missiles and the latest ballistic missiles for HIMARS launchers are the most critical requirements. Romanenko believes that receiving these weapons would fundamentally alter the course of the conflict. The Tomahawk, a long-range, precision-guided U.S. weapon, represents a significant capability leap.
Valeriy Romanenko also emphasized that Patriot air defense systems are vital for protecting Ukrainian cities, though current supplies are insufficient for comprehensive coverage. He argues that modern missiles are critically important for achieving success against the aggressor.
Advancing Missile Technology
U.S. developers are currently working on two new types of missiles:
- The PrSM with a range of up to 500 km;
- Another missile with a range of up to 1000 km.
This highlights the growing U.S. production capacity for missiles that could prove useful to Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russia's primary missile production facilities are located in Moscow, a factor that influences the strategic calculations of both sides in the war.
Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, stresses the importance of acquiring modern weapons to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
Acquiring advanced weapons like Tomahawk missiles from international partners could substantially impact the military situation in Ukraine. This underscores the critical role of international support in bolstering the country's defense and countering external threats. Given the ongoing developments, the issue of supplying such weapon systems is becoming increasingly urgent for Ukraine's national security.
