According to UATV: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the return of Ukrainian defenders from Russian captivity and outlined the results of the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Gdańsk. Since the start of 2023, nearly 1,600 Ukrainians have been brought back from Russian captivity, with the total exceeding 9,500 since the full-scale invasion began. Recently, Zelenskyy confirmed the release of 160 Ukrainian fighters, including defenders of Mariupol and the Azovstal steel plant.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference took place on June 26, 2023, marking a significant milestone in international support for the country. During the event, 160 agreements were signed, totaling €10 billion. President Zelenskyy noted,

“Ukraine has 160 agreements, with a combined value of over €10 billion.”
He also discussed the conference’s outcomes with Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, emphasizing the importance of this funding for national reconstruction.

National Priorities and International Backing

Zelenskyy stressed that bringing Ukrainians back from Russian captivity remains a top state priority.

“We must return every single person—both military and civilian—who is still held in Russian captivity,”
he stated. The president also highlighted the urgent need to strengthen air defense, calling it the nation’s foremost priority. He added,
“These are our rightful responses to Russia for this war.”

It is worth noting that Cyprus currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, with Ireland set to take over next. Zelenskyy also announced preparations for a NATO summit in Ankara, reflecting Ukraine’s active foreign policy in the realms of international relations and security.
