The majority of the freed individuals had been in captivity since 2022. Among them are representatives of various military units, including the Navy, Ground Forces, Territorial Defense, Airborne Assault Troops, as well as the National Guard of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service. Many of them are defenders of Mariupol. The oldest of the released military personnel is 59 years old, and the youngest is 26 years old.

Return of Illegally Detained Civilians

They also managed to return civilians who were illegally detained at the beginning of the invasion. Many of them were taken from their own homes. The youngest released civilian Ukrainian is 25 years old, and the oldest is 60 years old.

As a result of the 69th prisoner exchange, nearly 200 individuals were set free. This allows them to start a normal life again after the severe trials in captivity. Importantly, the returned citizens will be able to reunite with their families and friends who have awaited them.

This exchange was a significant event, as it not only brings our people home, but also underscores Ukraine's efforts to rescue its citizens. The return of military personnel and civilians will allow them to reestablish connections with their loved ones and adapt to peaceful life after a long time in captivity.
