Ukraine Activates 'Drone Shield and Sword' to Protect Civilian Infrastructure.
Protecting Ukraine's Civilian Infrastructure
According to UATV: Ukraine is deploying a large-scale defensive system to counter Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure, specifically through the creation of a 'drone shield' and a 'drone sword.' Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, detailed the measures being taken to protect civilian sites. He stated that Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively developing technical means to cover strategic directions, and the drone shield has already been established and is beginning operations.
Bratchuk emphasized that "the scaling up of this defensive process is literally happening before our eyes. The main thing now is the effectiveness of executing the combat tasks that stand before all of us in protecting Odesa, in particular, and our other cities." — Serhiy Bratchuk
This indicates that Ukraine is committed to actively improving its defense system, aiming to ensure security amid constant threats. The conflict has seen a deliberate Russian campaign to target energy grids and civilian areas, making such defensive innovations critical.
The spokesperson also noted, "If we are creating a drone shield today—it has, in fact, already been created and is starting to work." This confirms the effectiveness of new technologies being used to counter the enemy. Furthermore, Bratchuk mentioned the drone sword, which will also be deployed in combat:
"This sword, a punishing Ukrainian sword with our allies, will be deployed, including on the line of combat engagement." — Serhiy Bratchuk
It is important to note that Ukrainian defenders continue to actively combat Russian aggression. Over the past day, they eliminated 1,070 Russian soldiers and destroyed:
- one tank
- three armored vehicles
- shot down 914 enemy drones
These figures demonstrate the high level of readiness and professionalism of the Ukrainian military.
Serhiy Bratchuk also stated: "I think our drones will prove themselves even more effectively in the battles that are taking place in the air today." This underscores confidence in the future use of drones in combat conditions and their potential in defending the country. Thus, Ukraine continues to build up its defensive capabilities, contributing to the security of civilian infrastructure and the protection of the population.
These measures demonstrate not only Ukraine's active stance in responding to aggression but also the implementation of modern technology into military tactics, which could significantly impact the course of the conflict. The deployment of the drone shield and sword system highlights Ukraine's drive for innovation in defense, which may provide an additional layer of protection for civilian sites and the population under the constant threat from Russian forces.
