In October 2024, Ukraine's export of milk products decreased due to a shortage of raw milk and a decrease in butter prices in the European Union, according to analyst Georgiy Kukhaleyshvili.

According to preliminary data from the State Statistics Service, in October 2024, the export of milk products amounted to 9.10 thousand tons worth 25.40 million dollars. Export volumes decreased by 5% compared to September, but increased by 3% compared to October of the previous year.

During the first 10 months of 2024, 101.64 thousand tons of milk products were exported for 250.14 million dollars. In natural terms, export volumes increased by 10%, and revenue increased by 13% compared to the previous year.

The most exported milk products in October in monetary terms were: butter and cheese - by 24%, condensed milk and cream - 21%, casein and caseinates - 13%.

Kukhaleyshvili points out that the reduction in Ukraine's export of milk products in October was due to a shortage of raw milk and the need to satisfy the needs of the domestic market, particularly in butter. Imports of butter increased significantly.

In October, 805 tons of butter were exported, which is 9% less than in September but 39% more than in October of the previous year. Export revenue amounted to 6.09 million dollars, which is 57% higher than in October 2023.

The export volumes of cheese in October amounted to 1.41 million tons, which is 16% higher than in September of this year, and 30% higher than in October 2023. Export revenue from cheese amounted to 6.17 million dollars.

As for imports, in October, Ukraine imported 4.92 thousand tons of milk products, which is 3% less than in September of this year, and 24% less than in October 2023.

It is noted that in October, there was an increase in the deliveries of non-condensed milk and cream (+1%), condensed milk and cream (+36%), butter (+52%), cheese (+3%), and casein and caseinates (+17%).

In October, the foreign trade balance in the milk product market was positive and amounted to 2.13 million dollars.
