Ukraine is among the top three leaders in the number of AI companies in Europe.


Ukraine ranks second in the number of AI companies in Central and Eastern Europe
According to the Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov, Ukraine ranks second in the number of companies dealing with artificial intelligence in Central and Eastern Europe. There are over 240 such companies in Ukraine, including well-known startups like Grammarly, Preply, and People AI. Two Ukrainian AI companies became 'unicorns' in 2019, and the three largest Ukrainian AI startups are valued at over $14.5 billion.
Over the past 10 years, the number of AI and machine learning specialists in Ukraine has increased fivefold to 5,200 people. The Minister of Digital Transformation stated that this number is expected to grow by 330% in the coming years. He also emphasized the need to overhaul education to increase the number of specialists in this field.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation has amended the regulations for the Unified State Web Portal of Electronic Services to incorporate artificial intelligence for user convenience. In addition, a group of former and current employees of AI companies, including Microsoft, have launched a new venture called OpenAI and Alphabet. Google DeepMind has expressed concerns about the risks associated with this technology.
In various regions of Ukraine, such as Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa, students will have the opportunity to learn with the help of artificial intelligence, VR technologies, Minecraft, and Uber-Schools. It is projected that within the next two years, artificial intelligence will be able to impact 60% of jobs in developed countries and 40% of jobs worldwide.
