Ukraine introduces a contract service: what soldiers will receive.
According to inkorr.com: The Ukrainian armed forces, facing serious consequences from the war, are developing a new service system. As reported by the publication 'Hvylya', it is planned to introduce military contracts with a fixed term to attract more citizens to service and reduce the burden on soldiers who are exhausted from combat.
New contract system
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized that signing contracts could be a viable solution for those who do not wish to serve indefinitely, as it increases the likelihood of being sent to the front with no chance of return. Now both active servicemen and new recruits will be able to sign contracts for various terms — from one to five years.
According to Shmyhal: 'Soldiers who sign a contract for two years will receive a one-year deferment from possible mobilization after the end of their service period.'
Purpose of the innovation
This step is aimed at combating draft evasion, which has become a serious problem due to the prolonged war. Experts believe that the new contract system could encourage more people to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine and evoke more respect for their duties.
However, some specialists and deputies point out that the new system requires more detailed analysis and implementation. Previous attempts to improve the military recruitment process have not always been successful due to personnel shortages and other issues.
Improving the regulation of military service could be an important step for the Ukrainian army, which is looking for new ways to attract servicemen and improve the service conditions for the already existing personnel. The implementation of the new contract system could help improve the situation in the army and encourage civilians to serve in the Armed Forces.
