Ukraine's 'LightHome' Program Offers Grants Up to 300,000 Hryvnias for Building Energy Independence.
The 'LightHome' Initiative
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine has launched the 'LightHome' program to fund the purchase of generators, batteries, inverters, and solar panels for multi-apartment buildings. The initiative, which began on January 30, provides grants ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 hryvnias to cover the costs of autonomous power supply. This effort is part of a broader national strategy to enhance resilience against widespread power disruptions.
The program is initially operating in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Applicants can receive funds online within 48 hours of a decision being made. Oleksiy Kuleba, a state representative, emphasized that the goal is not just to restore but to strengthen homes with alternative energy solutions.

Residents themselves choose what equipment they need and from which suppliers to buy it, with the entire process being fully digital, eliminating paper certificates and queues.
How to Participate
To take part in the program, applicants must:
- Prepare a decision from the building's homeowners' association (OSBB) or building manager;
- Submit an application online via the website svitlodim.gov.ua;
- Await a decision from the commission at the Ministry of Development;
- Receive the funds and purchase the necessary equipment.
The 'LightHome' program aims to support communities in adapting to new energy supply realities and reduce dependence on centralized electricity grids. By decentralizing power generation, it seeks to provide a crucial buffer for residents during ongoing infrastructure challenges.
The launch of 'LightHome' represents a significant step in supporting Ukrainian communities amidst an energy crisis exacerbated by military actions and infrastructure damage. It enables residents of apartment buildings to secure alternative energy sources, substantially boosting their energy independence. The program's implementation of streamlined digital solutions for obtaining funding is also designed to stimulate greater activity in Ukraine's energy security sector.
