Ukraine Harvests Record 61.8 Million Tons of Grain, with 47 Million Tons Available for Export.
Record-Breaking Grain Harvest for Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In 2025, Ukraine achieved a record grain harvest of 61.8 million tons, a significant increase from the approximately 56 million tons gathered in 2024. With domestic consumption estimated at around 16 million tons, this leaves a substantial exportable surplus of 47 million tons for the current season. This robust harvest underscores Ukraine's critical role as a major global supplier of agricultural commodities.
Export Capacity and Key Shipping Routes
More than 90% of Ukraine's agricultural exports are shipped via the Black Sea maritime corridor, a route highlighted by Taras Vysotskyy as being vital for both volume and cost-effectiveness. Rail transport accounts for a further 7–8% of exports, though the vast majority of shipments continue to rely on sea routes. The country's ability to move such large volumes to international markets is a key factor for global food security, especially amid ongoing global challenges.
The growth in Ukraine's grain output highlights the agricultural sector's importance to the national economy and the world food market. In the face of global challenges like climate change and economic instability, Ukraine's capacity to export significant grain volumes can impact food security both domestically and internationally. Maintaining and developing efficient maritime export corridors remains critically important for delivering this produce to global markets.
