Ukrainians will receive pension increases from March 1: who will get a supplement from 100 to 1500 hryvnias.

The government approved the indexation of pensions in 2025

The Government of Ukraine has decided to increase pension payments from March 1, 2025. The indexation will be 11.5% and will cover over 10 million citizens, the Ministry of Social Policy reports.

The amount of indexation will be calculated based on the economic indicators of 2024: a 12% increase in consumer prices and an 11% increase in average wages from 2022 to 2024.

According to the decision, the indexation will affect 9.2 million general pension payments, 672 thousand pensions of law enforcement agencies, 98 thousand pensions of persons with disabilities due to the Chernobyl disaster, 79.6 thousand pensions of war veterans and combatants, 23.4 thousand pensions of former local government employees and civil servants.

'With this decision, we are already correcting the shortcomings of pension legislation for the third Time, due to which the lowest pensions during indexation previously barely increased. Therefore, this year the lowest pensions, which did not qualify for indexation before 2023, will be indexed again,' said the Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych.

After the indexation, an increase in the average pension by 556 hryvnias is expected, raising the average pension in Ukraine from 5789 to 6345 hryvnias.

From March 1, monthly insurance payments for victims of industrial accidents and occupational diseases will also be indexed, as well as for persons entitled to insurance payments in case of the victim's death.

The automatic recalculation of pensions considering the updated insurance experience will take place on April 1 for 629 thousand working pensioners.

It is important to note that the maximum amount of pension indexation will be limited to 1500 hryvnias for all pension and insurance benefit recipients. This will allow for a fairer distribution of financial resources and ensure pension increases for Ukrainians with the lowest payments. The minimum increase will be at least 100 hryvnias.

It should also be noted that the pension reform will include two components: basic and individual parts of the pension. In addition, for the appointment of ordinary pensions by age in 2025, the average salary for the previous three years will be taken into account. For those who retire in 2025, the average salary will be 15,057.09 UAH.
