International Ticket Sales Hit a Snag

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainians are running into trouble when trying to book tickets for Ukrzaliznytsia’s international trains, especially those heading to Poland. Sales have been temporarily halted for certain cross-border routes while the railway company waits for final approval and schedule adjustments from its Polish counterparts. This has created headaches for passengers planning trips abroad.

Travelers are unable to secure seats even 20 days before departure, throwing a wrench in their travel plans. Ukrzaliznytsia has noted that the new summer timetable for European railways is expected to launch on June 14, which could pave the way for ticket sales to resume.

With international train options currently blocked, many Ukrainians are turning to buses as an alternative. The cheapest bus ticket from Kyiv to Warsaw costs 2,143 hryvnias, while the maximum price reaches 3,500 hryvnias. The journey itself takes between 15 and 22 hours, a factor passengers should weigh when deciding how to travel.

Advice for Travelers

Given the current situation, passengers are urged to keep an eye on updates from Ukrzaliznytsia and Polish railway partners regarding international ticket sales. At the same time, those with flexible schedules might consider bus travel as a viable option.

The disruption in international train ticket sales stems from schedule changes that hinge on coordination with the Polish side. This highlights the need for closer collaboration between Ukrainian and Polish rail companies to improve cross-border transit accessibility. Travelers should stay alert to timetable shifts and have backup plans ready to avoid future inconveniences.
