In Kyiv, Lviv, and Dnipro, a protest action has begun against bill No. 12414, which seeks to limit the powers of NABU and SAP. In the capital, according to Radio Svoboda, about 1000 people gathered at the rally near the Franko Theater, and the number is continually rising. Residents of Lviv also took to the streets to protest near the Shevchenko monument with their own posters, and the action in Dnipro has also started. Bill No. 12414 stipulates that the head of the prosecution authority for SAP prosecutors will be the Attorney General, not the head of SAP. The Attorney General will also have the right to demand any proceedings from NABU and transfer them to another prosecutor for examination, and in case of non-compliance with instructions, the proceedings may be transferred to another authority. Previously, the bill was supported at the session of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, July 22, with 263 MPs voting for it.
