How to Challenge Being Wrongly Classified as a Reservist in Ukraine.
Military Registration and Reservist Status in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Under Ukrainian law, a citizen who has never performed military service cannot be legally designated as a reservist. Only after turning 25 does a person become eligible for the status of a person liable for military service. If someone has been incorrectly assigned reservist status, they can appeal this decision at the Territorial Center for Recruitment (TCC).
Current regulations require all male citizens aged 17 to 60 to be registered for military service. Upon initial registration, an individual is classified as a conscript. This is the first stage of military service, but to be recognized as a person liable for military service, the individual must reach the age of 25. This distinction is crucial for understanding one's legal obligations.
Rights and Status of Reservists
Reservists are a specific category of citizens who have prior military service or training experience. Importantly, reservists are not eligible for a deferment from mobilization during a special period. This rule is in place to ensure the country's defense capabilities are maintained.
Yuriy Ayvazyan, a military affairs expert, commented on the issue of unlawful reservist classification: 'This is either a mistake or unlawful action by the TCC.'
He further advises: 'You can try contacting the technical support of "Reserve+" first, but I doubt the issue can be resolved that way.' To address the problem, Ayvazyan recommends: 'You need to submit a request to the TCC and find out the reason why you were placed in the operational reserve.'
Given the current military situation in Ukraine, it is essential for citizens to understand their rights and responsibilities regarding military registration. Contacting the TCC can help prevent misunderstandings and ensure correct status documentation, which is critical for maintaining national defense. Promptly addressing military registration issues also supports more efficient resource management during mobilization.
