Military Analyst: Ukraine Requires 300 Missiles Monthly to Strike Russian Targets.
The Need for a Ukrainian Missile Program
According to UATV: Military analyst Ivan Stupak, speaking on the FREEDOM TV channel, has emphasized that Ukraine must develop its own missile program to strike distant targets within the Russian Federation. He stated that such a capability is critical for the nation's defense and for conducting effective attacks on Russian territory. This call comes as Ukraine seeks to counterbalance Russia's significant long-range strike capabilities.
Ivan Stupak, who served in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) from 2004 to 2015, specified that Ukraine needs approximately 300 missiles per month to successfully execute defensive operations.
"To feel not only on par, but at an advantage with the Russian Federation, we need around 300 missiles per month," stated Ivan Stupak. He highlighted the difference in payload, noting that a drone can carry about 60-70 kg of explosives, whereas a missile can deliver close to 500 kg.
Attacks on Russian Infrastructure
According to available data, Russia launched nearly 2,500 missiles last year. In contrast, Ukrainian forces have struck Russian oil refining facilities more than 120 times. One example of these attacks was a strike on the Ilsky Oil Refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, carried out on the night of February 17.
Stupak also pointed out that
"unfortunately, it was acknowledged that one of the sites where missiles were produced was hit."This underscores the necessity for Ukraine to develop its own missile capabilities to counter Russian aggression. Consequently, the issue of creating a domestic missile program is becoming increasingly urgent for ensuring Ukraine's national security.
The importance of developing indigenous missile capabilities for Ukraine is growing against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict with Russia, which has demonstrated the extensive use of missile systems in combat. Supporting and implementing such a program could be a key element in strengthening the country's defense and ensuring its security in the face of external aggression. Developing a missile program could also positively impact Ukraine's strategic options, allowing the nation to actively respond to threats from the Russian Federation.
