A Ukrainian Reveals the Dark Side of Ireland: Weather, Healthcare, and Housing Prices

According to ТСН: Tamara, a Ukrainian who has been living in Ireland for almost a year, shared her experiences regarding the difficulties she faces every day. According to her, the country impresses with its natural beauty but has many serious drawbacks that should be considered before moving.

Unstable and Cold Weather

The first thing that catches the eye is the changeable and cool weather. Tamara noted that summers here are practically nonexistent: warm days can be counted on one hand, it rains almost every day, and the ocean temperature even in season hovers around +14 °C.

The Medical System Leaves an Unpleasant Impression

Healthcare in Ireland also raises certain concerns. In Tamara's opinion, one has to wait for months for examinations - for example, it takes three months to get an ultrasound. Emergency services are seldom dispatched, so in urgent situations, people often have to make their own way to the hospital.

High Housing Prices and Poor Service

The search for accommodation turned out to be no less difficult: available options are practically nonexistent, and rental prices are extraordinarily high. Tamara also mentioned that the service sector in Ireland is poorly developed: there are few quality establishments, and unfortunately, service often leaves much to be desired.

Local Fashion that Reminds of the Past

Tamara was surprised by the style of the locals. In her opinion, fashion trends here look outdated: bright makeup, spray tans, and artificial nails remind her of the atmosphere of the early 2010s.

Slow Banking and Postal Services

Another issue is the slow operations of banks and the postal service. Processes occur sluggishly and require significant documentation, which can complicate adaptation for new residents.

“Earlier, Ukrainian Anastasia, who moved to Portugal, talked about the difficulties of life in that country. In particular, she pointed out problems with the migration service, which is 'completely paralyzed,' and the very high housing prices. The woman also complained about high taxes and the mental sluggishness of the Portuguese.”

Tamara's experience highlights the realities of life for Ukrainians abroad, especially in countries that may seem attractive at first glance. Despite the impressive landscapes and cultural features, new residents have to face challenges that can affect their daily lives.

All of this indicates that emigration requires not only readiness for a new environment but also resilience in dealing with the daily problems that may arise in a new land.
