The main building of Vladimir Putin's residence in Sochi, known as "Bocharov Ruchey," was demolished at the beginning of 2024. The publication "Project" reports this with reference to satellite imagery analysis.

According to journalists, the demolition began in February and ended in March, and now there is a pit at the site of the building, around which construction equipment is operating.

After the demolition of the building began, Putin held an official meeting with IAEA head Rafael Grossi. It took place on March 6 in a special reception house located on the edge of the complex. After this, Putin has not appeared on the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar region.

According to "Project," the last Time Putin flew to Sochi was seven months ago. An acquaintance of his revealed that Putin is concerned about his safety after drone attacks on facilities in the city. According to this source, officials have also stopped inviting Putin to meetings in Sochi.

In 2024, Putin did not even visit Sochi for Alina Kabaeva's birthday in May, which used to be a custom for him since 2012.

Drone fear and change of plans

Last year, Putin spent exceptionally little time at the "Bocharov Ruchey" residence - only eight days. Previously, before the pandemic, he could spend 30 or more days a year in Sochi, usually in May, September, October, and November.

The decrease in visits to Sochi coincides with the appearance of private planes transporting Putin, but without publicly disclosing the location. Journalists found this out following the increase in Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian territory.

It is also worth mentioning that Putin's two young sons with Kabaeva, Ivan and Vladimir, are transported by private planes and yachts owned by Putin and are accompanied by the Federal Protective Service. They do not appear in public places and live in presidential residences, notably a training center on Valdai is specifically for them.
