Ukrainian utility tariffs compared to bills in Poland, Romania, and Slovakia: numbers.

The cost of utilities varies in Eastern Europe. Romania has the highest electricity prices, while Slovakia is facing a sharp increase in gas costs.
According to a study conducted in February 2025, there are regulated tariffs for utilities in Ukraine. The price of electricity for the population is €0.117 per kilowatt-hour, and there is a preferential rate for electric heating - €0.071. The price of gas for Naftogaz consumers is set at €0.215 per cubic meter.
In Poland, electricity prices are fixed at €116 per megawatt-hour, which is 20% lower than market rates.
Romania has high price volatility due to its dependence on energy imports. The cost of electricity and gas on the domestic market is high.
In Slovakia, the price of electricity has decreased by 8%, but gas prices have risen for cooking and heating.
Water expenses vary significantly across different countries. The cost of waste disposal also differs.
Tariff increases are forecasted in Ukraine and Romania, while Poland and Slovakia plan to stabilize prices through a variety of energy sources.
Regarding waste disposal, Poland meets EU goals, while the recycling rates in Ukraine, Romania, and Slovakia are low.
We remind that pensions in Ukraine are significantly lower than in Europe.
