Power Restrictions for Industry Announced by Ukrenergo on March 15: Key Details.
Ukraine Imposes Capacity Limits
According to Novyny.live: Starting at 5:00 PM and lasting until 11:00 PM on March 15, Ukraine will enforce scheduled power capacity restrictions for industrial users. This measure follows Russian strikes on the energy system overnight on March 14, during which the adversary targeted power facilities in the Kyiv region, causing a loss in electricity generation.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that 3.5 GW of generation capacity has been restored out of over 9 GW that was partially lost due to the attacks. Ukrenergo has confirmed that these capacity limitation schedules will be applied across all regions of Ukraine during the specified timeframe. As stated by Ukrenergo’s press service,
“Tomorrow, March 15, in all regions of Ukraine, from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, power capacity limitation schedules will be implemented.”
Energy Sector Situation
The energy landscape in Ukraine remains tense, with these steps aimed at preserving grid stability amid external threats. Consumers are advised to prepare for potential power supply disruptions during the designated hours. This decision highlights the ongoing need to adapt the energy infrastructure to wartime conditions and underscores the importance of public readiness for changes in electricity usage patterns.
