'Ukrposhta' to issue a stamp dedicated to the heroic Volnovakha.

'Ukrposhta' announced the release of the postage stamp 'Cities of Heroes. Volnovakha', which is dedicated to a small town in Donetsk region. This town was an important railway hub on the Mariupol-Donetsk and Mariupol-Zaporizhzhia lines. This was reported by the press service of 'Ukrposhta'.
'Volnovakha entered the war zone in May 2014 and during the full-scale invasion of Russia in February 2022 became one of the first to feel the enemy's strike. As a result of brutal battles and bombings, the town was almost completely destroyed, and its residents were forced to leave their homes. Since March 11, 2022, Volnovakha has been under Russian occupation,' the message states.
It is noted that the postage stamp 'Cities of Heroes. Volnovakha' will depict a steam locomotive soaring through endless fields of sunflowers, leaving a burning town behind. This illustration symbolizes the history of Volnovakha.
'The railway is the heart of the town, which was built as an important transport hub in 1881. The train symbolizes not only the strategic role of the town but also the evacuation of residents during hostilities, which saved many people. It is particularly worth mentioning the card with the inscription 'I am Volnovakha. Je suis Volnovakha', which reminds of the tragedy of 2015, when the occupiers shot Ukrainian soldiers and civilians at a checkpoint near the town,' reports 'Ukrposhta'.
The author of the stamp is military artist Dante. A total of 840,000 copies of the stamp have been made, with a nominal value of U (corresponding to the rate for sending an internal simple letter weighing up to 50 grams and a postcard).
In addition, 25,000 'First Day' envelopes, 20,000 artistic postcards, and 500 presentation folders have been released.
The sealing with the 'First Day' stamp will take place in Kyiv (01001), and the special sealing will be in the village of Yalta in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region.
The official introduction of the stamp 'Cities of Heroes. Volnovakha' will take place on February 18. And starting from February 13, the stamp sheet with six stamps, the envelope, and the artistic postcard will be available for pre-order in the Postal Market.
We remind you that 'Ukrposhta' began a series of postage releases dedicated to the heroic cities of the country, starting with 'Kherson is Ukraine!' in December 2022. In 2023, this series continues with the postage block 'We will not forget! We will not forgive! Bucha. Irpin. Hostomel', the release 'Cities of Heroes. Kharkiv region', dedicated to the hero cities: Balakliya, Izyum, Kup'yansk, and Kharkiv, the stamp 'Cities of Heroes. Okhtyrka', the postage block 'Cities of Heroes. Chernihiv region', and a stamp dedicated to the unbending shipbuilding city - 'Cities of Heroes. Mykolaiv'.
