Ukrzaliznytsia Completes Fleet Upgrade with Final Six New Passenger Coaches.
Ukrzaliznytsia's New Coaches
According to Novyny.live: Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state railway operator, received the final six new passenger coaches in September 2025, concluding a batch of 66 units manufactured after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. This delivery marks a significant investment in the country's critical infrastructure during a challenging period. The new coaches are designed to provide a notably higher level of passenger comfort, representing a key step in improving service quality across the rail network.
These modernized coaches feature upgraded lighting and air conditioning systems to ensure a more pleasant journey. In third-class carriages, the overhead luggage rack has been removed to create a more spacious feel. Every seat is now equipped with a personal reading light and a power outlet, addressing essential modern travel needs.
Enhanced Travel Amenities
Further improvements include a small table installed on the upper bunk for added convenience. The lavatories have been fitted with modern vacuum systems and are stocked with towel and soap dispensers. For families traveling with children, both third-class and sleeper compartments now include changing tables and playpens, making rail journeys more accessible for parents.
Ukrzaliznytsia board member Serhii Leshchenko showcased the new coaches on social media, highlighting their advanced features.
The acquisition of these coaches is part of Ukrzaliznytsia's broader strategy to modernize its passenger services, focusing on increased comfort and safety. This commitment to new technology and improved travel conditions is expected to boost passenger numbers and public perception of rail travel, potentially stimulating the sector's growth as the country continues its recovery.
