Under the new framework, the refund percentage decreases significantly as the departure date approaches. Notably, nearly 70% of all ticket refunds are typically requested within four days of a train's departure. For passengers in Ukraine, where rail is a primary mode of long-distance travel, these changes add a new financial consideration to trip planning.

  • Refund 15-20 days before departure: 100%
  • Refund 10-14 days before departure: 90%
  • Refund 5-9 days before departure: 75%
  • Refund 1-4 days before departure: 50%
  • Refund less than 24 hours before departure: 30%

Passengers canceling just 1-4 days in advance will receive only half the ticket price. The smallest compensation, averaging a mere 30% of the fare, is reserved for refunds requested less than 24 hours before the train's scheduled departure.
