Umierov explained how much time a soldier has to return after AWOL through 'Army+'.
A serviceman who wishes to return to service after going AWOL through the 'Army+' application has 24 hours to report to the Military Law Enforcement Department. This was stated by Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov.
A new service has been launched in the 'Army+' application that allows you to form a digital report and express your desire to return to service.
Simple return process
Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov noted that the return process is very simple and takes only five minutes. 'After submitting the report, a clear mechanism is launched that regulates all stages of return - from document processing to restoring payments,' he stated.
Each stage of the procedure for returning a serviceman to service is accompanied by a notification in the application explaining the next steps.
24 hours to arrive
'The Main Directorate of the Military Law Enforcement Service (VSP) receives and verifies the data in the report. The serviceman has 24 hours to report to the VSP office of his choice. There, documents will be processed, a military registration will be made, and assistance will be provided to safely reach one of the 17 military units from the approved list. The commander of one of these military units has 72 hours to restore financial support and social guarantees,' explained the head of the defense department.
Transfer to another unit
After returning to service, the soldier can transfer to another unit using 'Army+'.
Let us remind you that the 'Army+' application has introduced the option to submit a report for returning to service after going AWOL.
Previously, the Verkhovna Rada adopted law No. 12095 on voluntary return to service for those who have AWOL or deserted for the first Time.
Later, it became known that soldiers who had AWOL for the first time began returning to the front.
It is worth noting that servicemen who have AWOL for the first time have until January 1, 2025, to return.
Earlier, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Anatoliy Barhylevych, stated that the number of cases of AWOL by servicemen could decrease. This could be due to the increased duration of basic military training. According to him, psychological issues are a common reason for AWOL.
