UNICEF Prepares Winter Cash Assistance for Ukrainian Families with Children: Eligibility Criteria.
UNICEF's Winter Program Preparations in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In response to the severe hardships caused by the ongoing war, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is launching preparations for a winter program to provide financial aid to families with children in Ukraine. This initiative is specifically designed to support the most vulnerable segments of the population, who face immense pressure as energy costs rise and temperatures drop.
The program aims to reach 1.65 million people, including 470,000 children. To date, over 183,000 individuals, among them 86,000 children, have already received cash assistance. Each eligible household will receive a winter support payment of 19,400 Ukrainian hryvnias. This financial aid is a crucial resource for families grappling with economic strain amid a complex socio-economic situation.
Additional UNICEF Initiatives
UNICEF will also provide winter energy efficiency grants to 1,500 educational facilities. This will improve learning conditions and ensure a more comfortable environment for children in schools. The program will cover regions including:
- Chernihiv
- Donetsk
- Kherson
- Sumy
- Zaporizhzhia
Financial assistance will be provided to families with children who were previously registered with the fund and reside in areas within 10 kilometers of the frontline. Support will also be extended to:
- Single mothers and fathers
- Large families (with more than three children)
- Families with children with disabilities living in areas 10 to 20 kilometers from the frontline
This program is part of UNICEF's broader efforts to aid the most vulnerable families during this difficult winter period.
This UNICEF initiative underscores the critical importance of humanitarian aid during conflict, a time when many families face severe economic hardship and resource shortages.
The cash assistance program and energy efficiency grants can significantly alleviate the burden on vulnerable families, providing not only financial support but also improved conditions for children's education. In the context of growing needs, such measures are critically important for supporting the stability and well-being of Ukraine's population throughout the winter.
