After Three Clinical Deaths, a 95th Brigade Veteran Now Teaches Tactical Medicine to Students.

The Story of Yevhenii Shvab

According to Espreso.tv: Yevhenii Shvab, a veteran of the 95th Air Assault Brigade, suffered severe battlefield injuries yet managed to successfully reintegrate into civilian life. Today, he instructs high school students in tactical medicine in Lviv. His journey stands as a powerful example of courage and recovery from trauma, deeply inspiring the younger generation.

Shvab was critically wounded in December 2022 in the Luhansk region. Two tank shells exploded near his dugout, and a third struck him directly. The attack caused severe damage to his lower limbs, embedded shrapnel in his back, and injured internal organs. He spent 40 days in intensive care, during which he experienced three clinical deaths. Following treatment and rehabilitation, he received a prosthetic limb at the Unbroken Center in Lviv, a crucial milestone in his recovery.

He enlisted at the start of the full-scale invasion, serving as a machine gunner in the 95th Air Assault Brigade. Shvab completed training in the United Kingdom, which equipped him with essential combat skills. His first combat deployment was in the Luhansk region, where he sustained his injuries.

Reintegration and Teaching Youth

After returning to civilian life, Shvab decided to share his experience with young people. He began leading tactical medicine lessons for high schoolers at the Center for National-Patriotic Education in Lviv.

“Of course, I was scared. I didn’t know how to work with children, but over time I adapted,” he admits.

Students, in turn, express gratitude for his instruction.

“He’s the kind of teacher who truly inspires us to learn, honestly,” says Lilia, a 10th-grade student.

Shvab’s story vividly demonstrates how one can overcome adversity and find new meaning in life by helping others. His contribution to educating young people in Ukraine marks an important step in advancing national-patriotic upbringing.

His educational work highlights the critical need for supporting veterans and facilitating their return to public life after service.
