According to ТСН: Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized the importance of ensuring the availability of medications for all citizens, especially in the context of frosts and electricity supply disruptions due to shelling of the energy system.

"Medications must be accessible to everyone, especially in conditions of cold in homes due to shelling of the energy system and severe frosts"

The government instructed the Ministry of Health and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection to constantly monitor the prices of medications. If violations regarding markups are detected, the Cabinet promises to take action and impose fines on pharmacies and other enterprises that violate them.

To this end, a list of medicinal products will be created, based on which the Ministry of Health together with the State Drug Service will conduct weekly price monitoring in pharmacies and submit reports to the Cabinet of Ministers.

Pharmaceutical market reform

Earlier, the government initiated a large-scale reform of the pharmaceutical market to lower prices and ensure the availability of medications even in the most difficult conditions.

One of the key decisions was to allow the retail sale of over-the-counter medications in gas station premises (GSPs). This decision was made so that Ukrainians could access the necessary drugs even when regular pharmacies are closed or not functioning due to power outages, as GSPs are usually equipped with generators.

Ensuring the availability of medications in such difficult conditions is a key element of state policy. The implemented measures can significantly ease the lives of citizens who need medications, especially in the winter period. The government hopes that price monitoring will help avoid speculation in the pharmaceutical market.
