In Dnipropetrovsk region, embezzlement of funds for housing recovery after shelling has been uncovered.
According to ТСН: In recent months, Dnipropetrovsk has regularly appeared in military reports as a region where active hostilities are ongoing. Unfortunately, the war has not prevented some officials from stealing funds designated for the recovery of residential buildings damaged by Russian occupiers.
Embezzlement of budget funds
The head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional prosecutor's office spoke about the situation with corruption in Dnipropetrovsk. According to him, the prosecutor's office has revealed several high-profile criminal cases related to the misappropriation of budget funds allocated for housing recovery.
In particular, in Samara, the deputy head of the housing and communal services department together with an entrepreneur embezzled 6.4 million UAH during the reconstruction of shelters in educational institutions. The indictment in this case has already been sent to court.
Additionally, in Dnipro, an organized criminal group was uncovered, which included a city council official, an entrepreneur, and accountants. They misappropriated budget funds allocated for housing recovery by signing contracts with a company at inflated prices. The total amount of damages exceeds 3.3 million UAH.
Territorial activity
Last year, law enforcement uncovered 18 individuals for terrorist activities, among them a resident of Dnipro who made an explosive device for a terrorist attack. Also, 12 individuals have been detained for treason, including those who provided the enemy with the coordinates of Ukrainian military.
Corruption in the healthcare sector
Many cases of corruption have been recorded in the healthcare sector. Among them is an indictment against the medical director of a palliative care center, who demanded 3,800 USD for providing services.
Misappropriation of funds in 2025
In 2025, numerous cases of embezzlement of budget funds related to local self-government and enterprises became known in Dnipropetrovsk region. For example, a criminal group was discovered that caused budget losses of more than 14 million UAH through the use of energy efficiency programs.
Misappropriation of funds during the maintenance of cemeteries in Kryvyi Rih and abuses during the repair of housing and communal infrastructure were also noted.
Victims of shelling
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Dnipropetrovsk region has lost 44 children, and another 304 have been injured. For instance, a missile strike on a children's playground in Kryvyi Rih claimed the lives of 9 children. The prosecutor's office has already collected evidence and has informed the responsible individuals from the Russian army of suspicion in absentia.
Civilian casualties
Since the beginning of the invasion, 533 civilians have been killed. The prosecutor's office has registered over 6.4 thousand criminal proceedings regarding war crimes.
Pillaging
In frontline communities of Dnipropetrovsk region, due to active hostilities, part of the settlements remains inaccessible to law enforcement. Law enforcement continuously records reports of possible pillaging and provides legal assessments of all received data.
The situation with corruption and military crimes in Dnipropetrovsk region causes concern in society. It is important for law enforcement to continue effective measures against corruption so that the funds allocated for infrastructure recovery and assistance to civilians truly fulfill their function. The further development of these events requires careful attention from the public and the state.
