Schizophrenic man enlisted in Odesa after captivity in Kherson

A man diagnosed with schizophrenia, who had been held captive in Kherson, was drafted into military service in Odesa. This was reported by the 'Slidstvo.Info' portal.

This man was summoned to the Khadjibey theatrical and circus collective and was sent to captivity in the city of Odesa in the fall of 2024. He stated that his statements and documents regarding his illness and captivity were ignored at the training center. After captivity, his mental state worsened: he lost 40 kg, and hallucinations began. The man also suffers from tinnitus and constantly hears voices. Once, he tried to get rid of his hallucinations by taking a lot of medication, which led to his poisoning and treatment in intensive care.

The situation in the training center became even more complicated when the man was given a weapon. He admitted that he intended to shoot everyone around due to a seizure and exacerbation of his illness.

The local training center confirmed that the man was taken there in November 2024 and refused his deferment, citing lack of grounds. The man was sent to a military medical commission, which deemed him fit for service.

The training center also stated that they did not apply physical or psychological pressure to this man during his stay there.

The process of excluding this man from service only began after he arrived at the military unit and presented his medical documents. However, journalists report that this process has been ongoing for more than two months.
