In the Russian Federation, police recruit women offenders for the war in Ukraine.
According to the group "Information Resistance", the Russian police are recruiting offenders to participate in the war against Ukraine, including women. One such woman stole groceries from a store and was offered to sign a contract to avoid punishment. This recruitment method is part of the Russian authorities' efforts to replenish army reserves due to significant losses at the front.
Earlier, the State Duma of the Russian Federation passed a law according to which defendants who sign a contract for military service cease to be criminally prosecuted. It also became known that the Russian Federation will be forced to announce a new wave of mobilization.
Analysis by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) confirms that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet announced a new mobilization but does not rule out such a possibility.
